Rasool Ellore, a cinematographer turned director has touched upon the sensitive subject of people leaving the state for greener pastures. The subject has been explored before (Padamati Sandhyaragam etc.) but Rasool deals with this issue in a simple yet effective way. Raghava Rao (Avinash) is a well do landlord. Jagdish (Murali Mohan) is his younger brother. Jagdish leaves for the US much against the wishes of Raghava Rao after marrying a foreigner and this annoys him no end. Raghava Rao feels that Indians are leaving their homeland and are selling their souls to the US for a few dollars more. Jagadish’s wife dies after giving birth to a daughter Sneha (Sarah). Jagdish comes to India after suffering some losses in his business but his brother does not entertain him. Ragava Rao’s daughter Sanskruthi (Gadde Sindhura) believes in all that her father believes in and develops a sort of hatred towards the west. She is down with some mysterious ailment and the cure can b found only in the US. But she is reluctant to go to the US. Sanskrithi meets Abhiram (Rohit Khurana) and he falls in love with her. But Sanskruthi does not reciprocate as she does not want to hurt the feelings of her father. She returns back to her village. After some time Abhiram comes to India as a agricultural scientist. By chance, he lands up in the same village where Raghava Rao and Sanksruthi live. He reveals his love for Sanskruthi to Raghava Rao. By this time Raghava Rao’s misunderstanding have been cleared by Sanskruthi and the film ends on a happy note with the hero and heroine getting married. Performance:Gadde Sindhura a debutant given a neat performance and has it in her to make a mark in films. She is bound to improve as she goes along. Rohit Khurana looks good but apes SalmanKhan. Muralimohan, Suhasini come up with convincing performance. Muralimohan comes across very well in the sentimental scenes. Brqhmanandam’s comedy is okay. The cinematography is neat and captures the beauty of the US locales very well. The simple storyline and neat screenplay coupled with deft direction and good music by Keeravani make Sangamam a good and neat film to watch. The only negative aspect if any is the lack of commercial elements like big fights and gory violence and it should be welcomed by everyone. Sangamam is a neat little flick that transports you into another world without too much sound and noise. The film is very close to reality and will touch the hearts of many.
